Gaming Addiction Monitoring and Evaluation with Functional Impairment

Rethink Your Relationship with Gaming—Early.

GAME-F is a prevention-oriented assessment framework designed to help understand gaming behavior in children and adolescents and its impact on daily life from five perspectives. Rather than providing a diagnosis, GAME-F aims to promote early recognition of changes, encourage dialogue, and help connect individuals and families with appropriate support when needed.

It’s Not Just About How Much Time Is Spent Gaming

Spending a long time gaming does not necessarily mean that there is a problem. GAME-F considers behavioral changes—such as difficulty cutting back despite trying, strong reactions to limits, wanting to play more and more, or being unable to stop thinking about gaming (GAME)—separately from their functional impact on areas such as sleep, health, family life, and school life (F).

Three Goals of GAME-F

  • Early Recognition | Identify and put small changes into words before serious difficulties become established.
  • A Shared Perspective | Enable children and adolescents, families, schools, and healthcare professionals to understand and discuss the situation using a common framework.
  • Dialogue and Support | Serve not as a basis for prohibition or punishment, but as a starting point for understanding the underlying context and considering appropriate support.

Important Notice

GAME-F is currently a proposed framework in the research and development stage. It has not yet undergone formal psychometric validation and is not a diagnostic criterion, medical device, or validated screening test. This website provides information about the concept and ongoing research. The assessment form and scoring criteria will be updated as development and validation progress.

Concept of the Fact Blog

With the widespread use of the Internet, social media, and generative AI, we live in a world flooded with information, where misinformation is widespread and distinguishing fact from falsehood has become increasingly difficult. The GAME-F Fact Blog aims to document facts based solely on reliable sources. We cover not only the latest news but also look back at important past events that have shaped the present.
